We’re back!

Posted in Promotion on July 2, 2010 by Jerrod Balzer

Well, we never really went anywhere, but Grimm took a dive in the sewer and hasn’t been himself since. He’s finally coming out of it now, however, and the Metal Crypt will be kicking it hard next Wednesday, July 7th.

Furthermore, there is a new site! This will be the last post for this one, so please direct your attention HERE!

Yeah, feast your eyes on that for a bit. We’ll be updating as we go, so check it often. Above all, tune in bear witness to the throthing madness.

March 17th guest

Posted in Musicians/Bands with tags , , , , on March 17, 2010 by Jerrod Balzer

Happy St. Patty’s Day! Today we’ll be getting drunk (surprise!) and talking to the front man for Age of Evil, Jeremy Goldberg! We’re looking forward to talking about their new album, Get Dead.

It seems like whenever a rock or metal band comprised of still-school-attending teenagers hits the scene, it’s easy to simply write them off as a gimmick. This certainly is not the case with the Scottsdale, Arizona-based Age of Evil, who easily keep pace with the big boys on their latest release, the six-track EP, ‘Get Dead.’ Picture vintage crushing thrash metal with sweeping Iron Maiden-esque guitar harmonies, and you’re not far off from what the group (which is comprised of two brother teams) – singer/rhythm guitarist Jeremy Goldberg (age 19), lead guitarist Jordan Ziff (18), bassist Jacob Goldberg (18), and drummer Garrett Ziff (20) – specialize in.

“We are so fortunate for our band to consist of two sets of brothers,” explains Jeremy. “But anyone who knows us will tell you that it’s really four brothers. The band would be completely different if we were all separate dudes and I think it is safe to say that Age of Evil would not be Age of Evil with anyone missing.” And according to Jordan, the idea of forming Age of Evil was a long time in the making. “We’ve all known each other since we were very little, and we always wanted to be in a band together.”

If you’re looking for a total ass-kicker of a recording, ‘Get Dead’ wastes little time, as such ragers as “Cruel Intentions” and the title track, “Get Dead,” quickly prove. Add to it spot-on covers of Skid Row’s “Slave to the Grind” and Judas Priest’s “Electric Eye,” plus two live tracks (“Eye for an Eye” and “Glimpse of Light”), and you’ll understand why ex-Megadeth guitarist Marty Friedman has praised the band, saying “They have the ‘new/old school’ sound down to a science and have considerably upped the ante for metal of the future.” With ‘Get Dead’ hot off the press, Jacob gives a hint as to what the group’s future plans are – “Complete world domination and intergalactic domination once we find some damn aliens.”

We’re honored to have Kevin Eastman on the show today, the head honcho over at Heavy Metal Magazine and creator of the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles!

We’ll be talking about the first book in the new Heavy Metal Pulp series, Pleasure Model by Christopher Rowley.

And the good people at Heavy Metal/Tor sent us some copies to give away!

So here’s what we’ll do. Right after our live interview with Kevin, we’ll say a word. Send us an email with that word in the subject line and your shipping information in the body. Our email is metalcrypt@hardrockradiolive.com

The first emails to come in get a book until they’re gone! It’s that easy! Just tune in, listen, and email. We will NOT add your email or address to any mailing lists. In fact, they’ll all be deleted after the books are sent out.

And we don’t care where you live. We’ll ship ‘em anywhere.

Vampire Soiree

Posted in vampire.com with tags , , , , , , on January 28, 2010 by Jerrod Balzer

Dear Vampire,

As I’m sure you know, I am a wine lover and connoisseur. Over the past 300 years I have been experimenting and collecting many intriguing wine gadgets. As an aftermath of today’s fast paced lifestyle and peoples’ general lack of time to spare, I have noticed an increase in aerator gadgets. For those unfamiliar with this type of device, an aerator effectively decants wine instantaneously. After trying several aerators I finally came across the Soirée™.

The Soirée™ Wine Aerator enhances the flavors and decants the wine as it is served, but most importantly it prevents wine drips as it attaches itself to the bottle. Because the Soirée™ compliments all wine types, I would like to suggest that you try the Soirée™ with 3 of my best wines; Trueblood™ Napa Valley Syrah, Vampire® Chardonnay and Vampire® White Zinfandel.

Dear Vampire, get 3 bottles of Vampire Vineyards®, finest wines, a red, a white and a rose and the Soirée™ Wine Aerator- “The wine decanter that fits in your bottle”- for only $59.95. Eternally yours,

Eternally yours,
